Very typical, it offers flavors of green apple, lemon and lime of great purity.
The vibrant acidity is accompanied by a marine salinity enhanced by toasted notes.

As Tabalí's pinot catalog progresses, and especially when the vineyards along the banks of the Limarí River are abandoned in favor of the heavily limestone coastal hills of Talinay, the wines lose their fruity character, or at least this gives way to the earthy and saline notes typical of the marine influence and these limestone soils. This Talinay comes from two hillside vineyards, both rich in limestone, one planted with clone 777 (one of the first to arrive in Chile), and the other with clones that arrived in 2010 from mass selections made in Burgundy, notably in Vosne-Romanée and Gevrey-Chambertin, two of the most famous towns in the region. These selections now produce the best pinots in Chile. This Talinay contains 30% in the final blend, which translates into earthy aromas and saline flavors, as well as aromas of ripe red fruits perceived in the background, while the tannic tension testifies to the strength of the origin and its chalky claws in the mouth.

Classy nose with a more mineral than fruity style. An obvious finesse that transports me to Burgundy. Beautiful mineral style. Long, clean, extremely fine. Complex, very fine chalky tannins, delicacy and sweetness. A wonder that ranks among the best pinots in the world. (CF)

I found in the Talinay Pinot Noir 2018 very nice depth and precision, as well as incredible chalky minerality in a beautifully textured and balanced mouthfeel. It is low in alcohol (12.5%), subtle and elegant, fragrant and nuanced. It fermented with 35% whole bunches and native yeasts and aged in second through fifth use Burgundy barrels for a year. It is an ethereal wine, but with energy and lots of light. 15,600 bottles produced. It was bottled in July 2020.
