A very structured, racy, taut Pinot Noir with beautiful acidity and very fine tannins.
An intense nose of black cherry accompanied by blackberries and red fruits, all enhanced by pepper, dill and other herbs. .
On the palate, the wine is elegant and complex with a dominant black cherry and we find on the palate the flavors that we discovered on the nose. beautiful.
To be enjoyed with a game bird, a lamb shank or a rib of beef.

Planted in 1988, this cool, northeast-facing vineyard (benefiting from rain shade) was purchased on a whim by cousins Martin Shaw and Michael Hill Smith MW (of Shaw & Smith in the Adelaide Hills ) in 2011. This wine is fermented and aged in oak barrels, around 30% of which are new, with a proportion of whole fruit. Anne Krebiehl MW: Darker fruits, peony petals, Ceylon tea. Translucent and peppery, crunchy, fine tannins: a magnificently marginal Pinot. Justin Knock MW: Seductive nose, maritime notes, fragrant spices, cumin, red fruits, layers of flavors. Everything is there and in balance. Wonderful. Dirceu Vianna Junior MW: Generous, expressive, ripe red and black fruits and a hint of leaves and spices. Elegant, it combines lots of ripe, juicy fruit with savory complexity.

Very good pinot from Tassie. Rooty spices and earthy forest notes of dried porcini dashi, autumn leaves and loganberry, highlighted by a cloud of darker cherries. The inclusion of whole clusters is evident throughout the finish, with a whiff of dill and mezcal, but it is largely concealed by the extract and density. This wine should age very well, as the track record at this address attests. To drink or to keep. Screw cap.

There are quite a few 2022 Tasmanian Pinots that seem a little bony and firm, and this one adds to the list. There is no lack of structure and seriousness in the wines, but one has the impression that the 2022s, coming from the entirety of Tasmania's immense GI, are a restricted lot. With a little air, this wine opened up with some beauty, so a decanting or aeration time is ideal.
It is a distinguished Pinot Noir, taut with an envelope of graphite-looking tannins, on a base of cedar and mahogany oak seasoning, with notes of black cherry, panforte, hazelnut and branched herbs, all accompanied by a slight hint of smoked spices. It is driven by a lively acidity that makes it refreshing and edgy, reminiscent of wines to drink a little later. I loved the wine more with time with it, evolving attractively and offering more scent and flavor as the hours passed. This is a serious wine, for those looking for a firm and structured Pinot.
