Simply the best Amarone della Valpollicella ever made.

An "Icon" that will have to wait at least 3 years for the wine to fully evolve although the current balance is already excellent.
This wine is "huge", full-bodied, extremely rich in fruit and very concentrated.

Almost opaque black, the wine reveals aromas of prunes, figs, dates, blackberries, red berries accompanied by oranges, licorice, roasted coffee, sage, black tea, herbs and smoked earth.
On the palate, the concentration of fruit impresses, as do the saturating tannins. Despite this, this vintage is more complex and above all more open than Amarones usually are.  

To be enjoyed around an osso bucco, game or even with shavings of old parmesan.

It's pitch black in the glass and, yes, there's a slight tariness to the super-concentrated prune, date and gooseberry fruits. But the complex notes of bitter orange liqueur, aged balsamic, fresh roasting herbs, cinnamon, roasted chestnuts, black tea and licorice are even more interesting. The further in advance you decant, the more nuances will emerge. It's a full-bodied wine with enormous concentration and plenty of chewy tannins that manage to hold the fruit in for now. It needs a long time to develop in the bottle. Simply superb. One of the best Dal Forno ever.

The ultimate statement wine from Northern Italy is the 2015 Amarone della Valpolicella Monte Lodoletta. The Dal Forno family skipped the 2014 vintage, and this sunny vintage is well worth the wait. The Monte Lodoletta is still incredibly strong in terms of fruit weight and tannins, but this 2015 edition seems more integrated in terms of concentration and smoother in terms of structure; it's not that wine is more accessible. It will hold up for years and decades to come and promises to age gracefully. This vintage is, on the contrary, fuller and more open. The bouquet unfolds in thick layers of dark fruit, spice, campfire embers and roasted coffee beans. It's an expensive bottle for collectors, but you'll get what you pay for.

The 2015 Amarone della Valpolicella Monte Lodoletta is deep and rich in the glass, slowly opening up to autumnal spices, crushed violets, cocoa and custard. Although dark and introverted on the nose, it is wonderfully open and fine on the palate, with a pure blend of red berries and savory spices under an air of rosy inner flowers. Throughout the tasting, the tension builds as the tannins saturate, leaving the palate immersed in primal concentration. The 2015 is incredibly long and needs many years in the cellar to fully evolve. The balance between maturity, structure and acidity here creates a totally harmonious and classic expression. Don't miss the sleeping giant that is Amarone. In 2015, production was reduced by 45% due to hail, and the final wine ended up with only one gram of residual sugar per liter.

A rich red, with good tension and energy, displaying tightly meshed flavors of blackberry preserves, fig cake, espresso crema and burnt sage wrapped around a core of dense but fine tannins . Notes of tea leaves, smoky earth and minerals ring through on the long, chewy finish. Corvina, Rondinella, Oseleta and Croatina. Best from 2025 to 2045. 1,350 cases produced, 250 cases imported.
