A dense, deep, sophisticated, elegant, refined and multidimensional wine that fascinates.

Blackberries, black currants, black cherries and blueberries are enhanced by notes of violets, lilac, blood orange, chocolate, mint, tobacco, cedar that spring from the glass and are accompanied by flavors of forest and loamy earth.

The wine is dazzling, ample, rich, pure and tasty, with an impressive intensity.

To be enjoyed around a rack of lamb with thyme.

The 2013 Dominus is, in my opinion, one of the most profound wines that Christian Moueix has ever produced in his distinguished history as a winemaker, both in France and in Napa Valley. This wine, whose yields are very low (only 3,500 cases) and whose final blend includes 89% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Petit Verdot and 4% Cabernet Franc, offers notes of cedar wood, carpet forest, loamy soil and countless blackberry and blackcurrant fruits. With a very opaque purple color, very pure and intense, this wine has low acidity, but ripe and noticeable tannins. This is a 30-40 year old wine and a deep effort from this famous Yountville vineyard. Drink over the next 40+ years.

Decanter : 100/100

The captivating bouquet of violets, lilacs, black fruits, blood orange and fleshy soil notes strikes with its extravagant range and amplitude; on the palate, the wine is three-dimensional, sophisticated and tasty, massive yet refined. Tod Mostero remarks that after making Dominus 2013, he can die happy as a winemaker. The selection was particularly rigorous, as the team wanted to exploit the unparalleled potential of the vintage to the maximum, so that only 3,500 cases were produced. A special label commemorates the 30th anniversary of the Dominus estate.

James Suckling : 100/100

The aromas are multidimensional and fascinating: black truffle, bark, clove, blackcurrant, citrus and even ginseng. It's full-bodied, but restrained and austere, with powerful, chewy tannins that remain polished and refined. The flavors are more umami and savory. Forest fruits and notes of blood orange are added. The wine continues for long minutes. It is a wine for laying down. It is an experience to taste it. A new classic that speaks to its history and tradition as the source of Napa's finest wines. A wine to be savored forever.

Jeff Leve : 100/100

Chocolate, mint, tobacco and covering dark berries create the scent. Dense, full-bodied, incredibly rich, yet this wine is so silky and elegant that it's impossible to stop drinking it. The biggest problem with this wine is that it will not last. To be more precise, once you open it and start drinking it, this wine is so easy to drink that the bottle will be empty way too soon. The wine is made from a blend of 89% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Petit Verdot and 4% Cabernet Franc.

Vinous : 100/100

The 2013 Dominus overwhelms all the senses with its magnificent overall balance and impressive intensity. Deep and almost impenetrable in the glass, the 2013 exhibits dry extract and overall power that is out of this world. Violet, smoke, black cherry, menthol, incense, creme de cassis and dark spices are some of the many signatures that emerge in the glass. Even better in bottle than it was in barrel, the 2013 is quite magnificent. This is a remarkably lively and nuanced wine considering its size.

Antonio Galloni - October 2015

TWI : 100/100

A blend of 89% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Cabernet Franc and 7% Petit Verdot, the 2013 Dominus is deep garnet in color. You have to swirl it around a bit to bring out notes of canned black cherry, crème de cassis and blueberry jam, as well as suggestions of mocha, cardamom and fertile loam, with a hint of truffle. The full-bodied palate is still very tight, revealing layers of dark fruit, minerals and spice, backed by a firm, gritty backbone, and ending with epic length. It still needs 5 years!

Dense to be sure, but elegant, racy even, with notes of cassis, bitter plum and black cherry reduction allied to a cold cast-iron spine, while flashes of licorice root, alder and applewood flourish throughout the finale. He reveals a lot of coiled energy, a lot of grip and a lot of fruit - and it's all in proportion. A brick house wine. Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. -- Dominus blind retrospective (August 2022). Best from 2028 to 2040. 3,500 cases produced.
