Portuguese wines are great discoveries and overall, although they can be full bodied, they are fine and elegant.
The signature of Touriga Nacional is present on the nose with beautiful aromas of orange blossom. They then make way for raspberry, blue (plum) and black (blackberry) fruits.
On the palate, there are magnificent silky tannins which support the perfectly ripe fruit, the violet, the cloves and the oak. Very elegant and attractive.
To enjoy with a beef steak, roast duck or squid.

The 2016 Touriga Nacional has been aged for 16 to 18 months, depending on the plots, in 90% new French oak, light in color. It comes from two different plots of vines, one facing south and the other north, with an average age of 35 years. The two plots were fermented separately. It has an alcohol level of 13.5%, down from 2015. Overall, it seems quite equal to, if not better than 2015. Tight and aromatic, it gives off aromas of large fruits blues and flavors turning into a bit of blackberry at the end. Shiny, silky and very concentrated, this precise Touriga has a superb structure, a certain sexy aspect despite its elegance and a lot of finesse. In the end, this will likely be one of Crasto's best Touriga. Maybe 2015 will overtake him. Maybe not. I'm still a little on my guard: this 2016 has only been in the bottle for about 90 days, and it hasn't changed much. But I am leaning for the moment, for the 2016 because the combination of elegance and sex appeal makes it a very special product.

A beautifully crafted red that offers both concentration and elegance, with notes of violet, kirsch and red plum reduction supported by nicely sculpted tannins. Ample flavors of clove, olive, mineral and black tea envelop the sandalwood-laced finish. To drink until 2028. 75 cases imported.

Fermented in vats and aged 18 months in French oak.
Deep purple with a little purple on the edge. Aromas interspersed with black fruit and the pretty - but not excessive - floral character of Touriga. A touch of sweet oak spice. In the mouth, it is quite woody, but the characteristics of fruits and violet stand out. Velvety tannins and good freshness on the finish. (JH)

Vines coming from two plots spaced 300m apart, on average 33 years old, one facing south-east, the other north-west. A pronounced freshness and the lowest alcohol content to date for this wine characterize the vintage. The concentrated and polished fruits of raspberry and blackberry stand out against a frame composed of silky tannins. Notes of orange blossom appear, marking the signature of the grape variety. They are starting to unfold. Aged 18 months in French oak (90% new wood, very light toast).

Dark ruby garnet, purple reflections, subtle brightening of the edges. Dark berry fruits underpinned by fresh spices, fine slate spices, delicate licorice, blackcurrant in the background, multifaceted bouquet. Juicy, elegant, very good freshness, fine tannins, sweet aftertaste extract, already drinkable, very good maturation potential.
